Problem with 2013 335i beware

Whats going on everyone. Well here is some info I feel everyone should know about.
I purchased a 2013 BMW 335i and since I bought it 3 months ago the I drive shuts down on me 4 to 10 times a day on me. The worst part of it is BMW can't fix it. It is a software problem. This is my 6th BMW and I have VERY DISAPPOINTED... I am pretty patient but the fact that it has been three months and all BMW is offering is one payment is pretty depressing. I felt that all of you should know this about BMW. I hate to say it but the company that I love I have a feeling isn't taking take of its customers.

That's very sad to hear.

The payment voucher is a nice gesture (who doesn't like free money?) but doesn't fix the problem. That's interesting that it isn't covered under BMW's Warranty. Have you contacted your local BMW Center and asked if there are any open campaigns for recall on the 335i iDrive software?

If you don't like what BMW is offering ask for the compensation you feel is fair.

What is the lemon law in Florida?

Just because you are having trouble doesn't mean the entire model line will have problems. Sadly, lemons happen. Investigate your rights as a consumer in Florida.

Welcome to Bimmerfest.com. Sorry to hear about the trouble with your 2013 F30 3 series. I've moved your thread over to our F30 3 series forum now. It sounds like you need to make some more noise at your dealership to get BMW NA to step up their compensation for the headaches. As pointed out by other members a single bad F30 doesn't mean the entire 2013 model year is problematic. I agree you could have simply gotten a lemon, it happens to the best automakers and BMW isn't immune from a lemon now and again.

I hope you're able to get your car fixed or a resolution to your satisfaction!

You need to research lemon law remedy in Florida. You may be well on your way to a lemon law claim.

I didn't get the impression it isn't covered by warranty when he said BMW can't fix it. I got the impression he meant something along the lines as they don't know how to fix it. At least not yet.

If it was my car, the whole car would have been replaced by now.

I have a 2013 328xi and have never had the i-drive spontaneously shut down. Make sure you call BMWNA and let them know that while the gesture is appreciated you want your car fixed.

Someone else in this forum had a similar problem in which i-drive was intermittently restarting. Eventually i-drive crapped itself completely and wouldn't even start, at that point the dealer needed her car for several days and ended up ordering an entire new COMBOX as well as potentially other components.

This kind of problem IS fixable. The worst possible scenario is that it's an intermittent short in the wiring which is difficult to diagnose. In that circumstance they should replace your vehicle.

So, let me get a better picture: 4-10 times daily, and here I'm guessing comes on & goes off frequently, music/speaker phone/radio/navigation goes dead, then spontaneously boots?

Turn off Auto start stop?

When a car gets lemoned, it goes on the title and the value on the car drops significantly.

Steps to getting your car replaced.

Step 1. Have the dealer open a PUMA case on the issue.
Step 2. Contact BMWNA and let them know whats going on, let them know how many times and days the dealer ahs tried to fix the poblem.
Step 3. Let the GM of the dealer knows whats going on.
Step 4. Get back in touch with BMWNA and let them know you want out of your car and into another car.

In florida, you will get back the money you put into the car minus a usage fee.

Example.(my car)

My 328i was 39,800. Mulitply that by the amount of miles i put on it(7,000), and divide that number by 120,000. =$2,321(usage fee)

now, time to figure out how much you put into the car, add up all your payments(600*8)=$4,800 plus your inceptions(1,100) total into the car is 5,900

Now subtract your usage fee from your total into the car (5,900-2,321)

and BMW cuts a check for $3,571

This voodoo is only applicable to a lease I imagine. As is the voodoo were you somehow get a 335 for less per month than your 328i.

Tire insurance is also amazing, so many nails!

Once his BMW gets lemoned I'll bet he switches to an ATS

I've had my MY13 335i for 4 months now and have not had a single problem with any facet of the car. If this problem is supposed to be systemic, should't it be a little more widespread?

My Idrive started rebooting ever 4-5 minutes tonight and I found this thread. Sounds like I’m in for an adventure. Sometimes it's a complete audio/video reboot, sometimes it's just the monitor. I am thankful for this form that gives insight based on the experience of others. I have several other observations I would like to share but I don’t think this is the thread for a complete overview. This is just the newest issue on my list of reasons leading me to regret my upgrade from an 08.

No issues here on the iDrive shutdown.

Like others said, follow FL lemon law procedures.

Wow what a coincidence, the same thing happened to me on the way home tonight. The symptom was it showed "No Signal", and then IDrive rebooted. It repeated every 2-3 minutes. The radio or satellite radio was on in all incidents. I waited an hour and drove the car again and it was back to normal. One thing I did differently was to put the key on ashtray cover, no sure if that matters(probably not). Mine has no Nav and less than 3k miles on it.
