Question Walk-through on bumper replacement/install?

Hello, everybody. I'm brand new to BMW - just bought my 328i this past Monday. I noticed the night I bought the car that the front bumper was misaligned, as if it had been in a minor, minor, minor front end collision. Today, I noticed the dust cover (?), whatever the underneath part of the bumper is, is "torn" in the middle. It looks as if someone parked it too close to a curb or driveway and just scraped it, causing the "tear." I folded the pieces over each other so that at least it's not hanging down. The right (when looking at the car head-on) side is also "torn" around the edge by the light. I found a Youtube tutorial for an install and it doesn't seem all that difficult. I also found a painted bumper through ebay for a fairly reasonable price. I'm not looking to sell the car for mass amounts of money - I am just anal retentive enough that I want it to look good without spending thousands of dollars (or hundreds), especially when I just got it. Thoughts on replacement bumpers (where to get them from) and self-installations? I'd hate to take the cover off and find I can't put it back on. That, and I don't know what tools I need to take the bolts off. Thank-you!

bumpers easy to remove and replace. You cant just buy one and hope it matches unless your cars jet black Paints tend to discolor or different runs of the same color can be toned different.

It was bought from a "luxury" car dealer, not BMW. I have a five year bumper-bumper on it, but I doubt cosmetic damage is covered. The car is blue.

Only buy a genuine BMW manufactured bumper. I see them on some CL listings from time to time based on what city you are at.
You will have to get the bumper painted to match the car but a good shop can do that for you.
I bet what happened is the PO got too close to a parking lot stop and drove slightly over it. When backing up it just tore the underpanels up which also deforms the bumper. You might be able to get the bumper squared away by replacing the underpanel pieces...
Bumper is mostly held on with push pull pins...

try a body shop they can often fix the bumper with heat and epoxy and reinforcement strips. The bumper pull on the fender can be bent back into place.

If you just bought it and you did not cause the damage, talk to the dealer and have them fix it.
