ive spoken to bmw uk about it and they arent interested.
my car keeps stalling, i sent a photo of the dash to show the engine light on and car in neutral with revs at 0. and the dealer just turned the revs up by 150 and sent me away. they dont have any codes from the car so no diagnosis really. about giving car back, i spoke to motor industry code people and they said that what manufactures offer with warranty is above and beyond consumer law. im quite fed up with car, but the other night i we drove back through the A57 snake pass and i absolutely loved the car, how it handles, roars and grips through the windy roads. i managed to keep with a ford focus st, a sporty hatchback vs a 2.7 tonne x5!! then i thought, keep it and see how it goes! confused!!! but it is a nice car! |

im not sure what to do, either way i loose out. if the dealer/bmw uk exchange car they only part exchange it and that means market value which is in 14 months less than half of what i paid. its different in usa where i think lemon law etc applies. here in uk they dont give a ****.

To follow up, the dealership replaced my injectors and plugs and everything is back to normal.

Something tells me Z51 has a non-disclosure agreement of sorts with this issue (possible lemon replacement) Idk
![]() Glad to hear others have succeeded to get their cars fixed.

Sorry, been busy. Car, is not the first thing on my mind right now.
As far as an update. Went in to a forth dealership to get the car checked out. This time the dealer told me they had a BMW factory specialist test drive the car and he didn't find any anomalies. How they managed to get that done in one morning is beyond me. Meanwhile the car is still getting very poor mileage around town. My overall MPG average over 4,500 miles is around 10 combined hwy/city. But Most of the time I'm getting 150-160 miles per tank. My neighbor just got her 2012 5.0 X6 replaced after being totaled by Sandy with a 2013 5.0 M-Performance pack. She is also very surprised by the difference she is getting as well. The fuel consumption on her new car is much worse than on the 12 she had. Something is up with these PP cars. I think the programming is spraying extra fuel to keep the temperature down. If that is the case and that's what's causing the reduced mileage, It should be reflected on the sticker. Because, technically this is the same engine, I don't think BMW ever had to certify these MPG ratings on cars with PP. My transmission issues are not getting any better either. I now drive in manual mode to avoid the hard downshift and rpm spike on 2-1 in regular D. During the snow storm, I had a weird failure to up shift while driving on 2" of snow in D. RPMs would get to 3500-4000 before the car up-shifted to second. This is just driving straight under 20 mph without trying to accelerate further. On the highway the car is champ though. I could barely believe the 27 mpg I got from Brooklyn to East Hampton. It barely made it though 1/8 of a tank doing steady 65. I usually burn though that in no time around town. A couple of stabs on the Go pedal will do it. Very frustrating situation. No codes, yet obviously abnormal behavior. I also asked the dealer to look into the heated steering not getting up to temp compared with my Sport Pack 12 35D. It is barely noticeable that it is on. He tried to convince me that the 13's are not as warm as earlier models. I almost bought this until yesterday. Put the heat on and it got so hot I though it was going to melt. I had to turn it off. Today I turn it on again, and it is barely warm.
