It's 1200 miles, not 1250. I was told not to exceed that 1200-mile limit otherwise it affects some sort of warranty/certification on the car. They replaced the differential fluid on mine plus some other things.

Would you buy a used 2013 M6 with 1280 miles that has not had this service?

Yes. 50 miles is not critical.

Anyone that is told it is an issue, and believes it, is in a conversation between two ______s.

You know how you tell a BMW employee is lying? Ask them to put it in writing- when they wont, it means they are probably lying. Just because "my dealer said" is not an excuse for nonsense.

If you're running it to the ground, why not? I switch cars every year or two so I follow what the manual says to avoid any issues when I go trade it in.

At the 1250 mile service they do software set which allows full potential of the engine and launch control is activated and car revs from 6800 to 7250rpm. things like that, also oils etc..

Does BMW consider a couple hundred miles over the 1200 miles service an issue?

What is launch control in these cars? Is there a button for this?

How to launch: Program your m button2 or 1 for everything to max setting.

1) Press the M button (the one programmed for max settings)
2) Hold brake lightly with left foot.
3) Press gear lever forward until racing flag appears.
4) Use cruise control speed dial to increase or decrease RPM.
5) When ready release lever.
