You have a problem. It's not as simple as taking a remote off the shelf and cutting the door key to match your X3. There's programming involved too, although I'm not sure how much. Is that $300 all-in, including any programming needed to get your X3 to accept the replacement remote , or just the cost for the replacement remote ? What about the lost remote - do you want it disabled, or do you want it to remain active in case you find it later?

Keep looking! With any luck it will turn up in a coat pocket, or under some papers on your desk -- between the sofa cushions (with the remote you lost last week), or behind a chair. You just have to sit down and think of where and when you last remember actually having it.

Hey you are welcome! I am an old hand at finding car keys -- my wife is notorious for leaving her's "around" and then forgetting where they are. The kleenex box is a new one, but I will add that to my list of places to look! Nice to save some coin too!

Why don't they make them buzz so a search is easier like a cell phone? I liked the old 35 cent keys we did years ago... Heck with multi function keys!

Amen! If you need the fancy stuff just have a "fob" with the remote etc. Let the key be a key that can be replaced for less than a month's car payment.
