USAA can be used without financing through USAA (i.e bmwfs) but in that case all incentives are reduced to 1k.

But you can't get the 1k incentive if you lease through bmwfs?

I would agree that the USAA website is unclear. I read an Edmunds post that you anyone can join USAA for free, and thereby get a $1k discount? If I'm not military nor related to current military, anyone know if I can still do it to get the $1k discount? I thought this deal was done too, but mebbe no?

You can't join USAA without meeting their qualifications, i.e. military or related.

Here's what it says about membership:

Our investment products, most checking and savings products, credit cards, life insurance, and shopping and discounts are available to other individuals.

USAA auto and property insurance is not available due to membership eligibility requirements. New Hampshire and North Carolina residents who are not eligible for membership may be able to obtain USAA auto insurance by calling 1-800-531-USAA (8722) to determine eligibility as defined by these states' mandatory coverage laws.

Here's what it says about BMW disounts:

BMW requires presentation of a Photo ID and USAA insurance card with USAA number or a Confirmation Letter provided by USAA. For a Confirmation Letter, members can call USAA at 1-855-787-6272. Miami and I joined last night and got confirmation letters via email with a member number, I thought that'd be enough, but I've never tried it, any CA care to chime in?

How did you get the confirmation email? Did you need to call?

We ask for your USAA P/C insurance card to claim the USAA rebate... If you do not have a USAA P/C card we will call USAA for a confirmation letter that you qualify for the BMW rebate

Justin is correct. As a retired Navy Commander and USAA member since 1981. You or a member of your immediate family has to have served in the military OR it can be handed down from previous generations (i.e. Grandfather served and dad was member). You CAN use some of their other services but NOT Prop / Cas Insurance. That is what may be unclear. When you use the buying service for a BMW they have you print out the certificate to take to the dealer and you must have your current proof of insurance.

My bro in law is a major in the Airforce, but I think he's a reservist now. Would I have to actually get an insurance policy to qualify? Anyone know if that connection is enough?

No, only the children of active, retired, honorably separated and entisted personnel of US miliitary qualify for P/C coverage

Very glad my Dad is a vet - USAA all the way !!!!!

My dealer is now saying usaa can't be combined with recent grad...anyone want to weigh in on that one

I've had two dealers tell me differently one says they can be combined one says they cannot, so who knows

Can USAA be combined with the Holiday Credit on a lease through BMWFS? Sorry I have a read this thread and I'm still confused .

My dealer has indicated to me that I am eligible for both Holiday and USAA credits.
