Headlamp Replacement for non-xenon lights
We chose to buy a 2011 528i with non-xenon lights. We had not really driven the car much at night. I was shocked at how much better my 3-series xenon lights work. I know it will cost +/- $5K to have a dealer install and not really interested in that kind of expense.
Has anyone "upgraded" their lights aftermarket to something that is a brighter, whiter light. Thanks, Deb

Lots of aftermarket bulb replacement kits, some are better than others. Takes some research to figure out what's what. You may have trouble with the car's light monitoring circut and they will not have the autoleveling, at least to the sophistication of the factory system (which may also turn into a corner, depending on the options).
After having HID lights, most people never want to go back, it's a bigger jump than the (way back now!) change from normal incandescents to halogen. In some places, the vehicle may not pass inspection with aftermarket HID lamps installed. Best to check first to avoid any issues. Without the auto leveling, it is very possible to blind oncoming traffic depending on the vehicle load and adjustments. |
