Unhappy Oil Leak and Alternator Help!

Hey have a question car won't I have a 03 745i had the car for about 7 months and when i first brought it had an oil leak found out it was the valve cover gaskets, vacuum pump and alternator seal bracket haven't had a chance to fix it. Today I looked at my alternator found oil all around it. Was wondering if oil gets in alternator and frys it and battery is charged full will car still start. I have a water cooled alternator. PLEASE HELP

If alternator spins freely then the car will start it wont charge the battery tho and will run on its power for a bit then it will die. Dont mess with it. Its a 7,not civic. Water cooled alternators just stop spinning when go bad with no warning. Well maybe you will hear noice coming from it and thats it

Thanks man sorry for all the threads. How can I losen the belt and if it's the alternator where can I get one for a descent price? Auto zone wanted $499.00 with 2 yrs warranty and dealer wants $675.00. One more question did you get that burnt smell when yours went out?
