I have the same tire size and wanted to change them but EVERY person and tire shop said not to mess with the sizes on bmw's unless u change up the suspension. Ur odometer will not be accurate.

you should try this tire calculator to figure out what would work best for you
http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecal...?action=submit

Stock Tire - 225/50R17

Revs per Mile: 804.6
Actual Speed: 60 mph 100 km/h

245/45R17

Revs per Mile: 809.9
Speedometer1: 60.3 mph 100. km/h

Speedometer Difference: 0.658% too fast
Diameter Difference: 0.66%

*not a significant difference

basically your speedometer will be telling you that you are going faster than you actually are by less than 1% also your odometer will not be completely accurate, also off by less then 1%; which equals to about 1 mile missing for every 132 miles you drive.

hope this was helpful.
