Conversely, the newer devices your 35i supports probably wouldn't be supported by those 2008, 2010 models. The USB connection might be the same, but the hardware that is linked by the connection are different on both sides. The audio equipment in the 35i supports newer more advanced technology. The audio equipment in the 28i, 2008, 2010 vehicles etc. probably don't support newer equipment. Certainly, if the Y-cable was included in the 28i, it wouldn't support an iPhone. Again, that information was linked in NoI4plz's reply. |

Consumer Reports
Test results so far (335d)...by the way, the 2008 3-series was sold.
Both the older (Classic) iPod and the new one (iPod Nano) work just fine in the 2010 335d, using a Y-connector plugged into the Aux port alone, with, of course, the new pin adapter by Apple as required by the Nano and iPhone. The Classic and Nano also work using the USB port and the USB part of the Y-connector. The iPhone 5 connects as well, using Bluetooth. It seems that only the X35i requires both limbs of the Y-connector to be plugged in for the Classic to work. Major Tylenol headache! Richard Last edited by Runon MD1; 12-06-2012 at 07:23 PM.
