Sunroof help needed!!!

Hey guys,

I was trying to adjust my sunroof the other day (glass wasn't level) and pushed too hard on the glass. I heard something crack, and now the left side doesn't drop down below the roofline when I push the button to open it.

Do you guys have any idea how much this will cost to fix, what parts I will need, and if I'm able to fix it myself? I have included a YouTube video of the issue.

It was repaired in the past (the infamous SLAM when moving, and the tilt arms were replaced), however, some other parts were broken during the repair process. These parts were repaired using epoxy. I assume it was the epoxy that failed. The roof still tilts completely fine, only sliding is the problem.

Another decision that I should make is; Should I replace both sides (both sides are epoxied, I'm assuming it is the control arms), or just replace the broken one?

try it manually

I posted the help for Sunroof a couple of days ago. I would use the tool that is in your trunk tool box and retract the sunroof manually.

If you don't know how to do this, it is easy. Basically you pop the overhead light panel, than you pop the overhead panel that holds the switch to open and close the sunroof.

Inside there you will see the mechanism and motor that opens and closes the sunroof. There should be a red cap the covers the hole for the allen wrench that you will use to crank the mechanism to open and close your sunroof.

Pop the red cover, insert the allen wrench you pulled from your tool box turn, I forget if it is clockwise or vise-versa, but you should see your sunroof move, it will be hard to move.

I would just move it enought to clear the blockage area, then try the switch, if it does not work, I would continue to then do it manually.

You should find the instructions on what I just described somewhere on line.

Good luck.
