When you think that your E39 is gushing with steam, but in reality it's someone else's nearly identical E39 parked where you thought you parked yours.

It happened to me last week at a rest area in Massachusetts; a suburban parked beside my E39, blocking it from my view on my way out of the rest stop building, so for about 10 seconds I thought my cooling system was erupting 150 miles from home.

+2, don't know how many times I've used that same line of BS,

Barely on topic, but beware of parking away from people. My father is an insurance inspector. He did an estimate on a Cadillac who parked way away from people. Someone keyed into the side of the car "you shouldn't park so far away". People don't like people with nicer things. I try to park in a decent spot but yet hide in the lots inconspicuously.

When you never park in the street.

Clearly instead of parking lots we need garages that are used like lockers. Go to the store, park in an open single stall, shut the door and put in your own lock combo. Come back and you know nobody will have touched it.

When you wince every time ANYone says the words "cooling system". Whether it be on TV, radio, junk mail, internet, overhearing a conversation of people near you, commercials, phone book ads.....

I can agree with most of those things but the most dreaded one is the "ding" from the display saying something is wrong. I too, am in MI and constantly get the temp notice,which scares the wallet out of me!
