I have a BMW X3 2006 and I wanted to install an auxiliary input in order to listen to my iPod. I purchased the auxiliary cable from the dealership, found the 3 pin connector under the main compartiment (between the 2 front seats), plugged my 3.5mm cable and hit play on my ipod, but when I turn on my car (and thereof the radio), I still can't access the AUX mode on the radio.
Does anyone have an idea why it's not working? |

Dealer has to code the system to recognize the aux connection, IIRC.

I wired mine in directly to the back of the radio. No coding was needed by the dealer in my case.

Thanks guys for replying. I tried to connect it directly behind the radio, but did not fin a 3 pin connector. Are you aware if there is any?

I did the same. Works. Look at the back carefully...It took me a few min to figure everything out but it does work. 2006 x3.

Depending on whether you have a CD changer installed or not, you may have to disassemble one of the plugs on the end of the radio harness along with the aux-in plug and do some insertions. If no CD changer installed, you should find just the right space in an existing plug/connector that the aux-in connector fits into. |
