'87 325e Starting Issues
Hi! My 87 325e is having an interesting starting issue. From cold it starts right up, revving to about 1500 rpm then dropping down to normal. After that it starts (no rev) and promptly dies. If I give it some gas and rev it like it does automatically the first time it stays alive and runs fine. Any ideas what could be causing this?

I've replaced all the air lines, so I don't think a vacuum leak is the problem. The car runs just fine once I get it going, I was really curious what it was that made it rev on its own the first time, then not after that?

idle control valve can be getting dirty. try cleaning that first

As a matter of fact my idle motor is out completely it will try to die while braking and after sitting say in a parking spot
