Programing battery?

I've had a service shop quote me $350 for battery replacement and programing. What is programing the battery? I've read the threads that suggest Autozone batteries for replacement. But what about programing?
Thanks in advance for advice.

Read my post that I did couple day ago. It's very important if new battery is different then one on car now , because Ah could be different.

The battery is not programmed, the car's computer is reprogrammed so it knows there is a fresh battery and will reduce charging rates so as to not overcharge it.
