1997 328ic Door Panel Repair

Thanks for all of the replies to my original post. You have all made it WAAAY to complicated! I do not need to re-upholster the panel, it is in excellent condition. I simply need to remove the insert, apply new glue, and attach it to the main part of the door panel. It appears that it is held on at a single point, but I can't tell if it is a screw, clip, or whatever. Hope somebody reads his and has made this repair before. Thanks again.

The insert is glued onto the larger panel.

1997 328ic Door Pasnel Repair

Hi jonesin. I know it is glued to the larger panel, but how do I remove it from the larger panel so that I can re-glue it, what holds it on besides glue?

Nothing holds the insert to the panel except glue.

Thanks for the input on the door panel repair. I've decided not to try to reglue. It only needs it on the end of the insert, The "treatment might be worse than the disease". Could be that the original glue needs high heat to adhere, anyway, not going to chance it.

That isn't the issue with 'repairing door panels' The issue is when the fabric itself peels away from the backing. Simply regluing the inner to the outer is easy.
