Exclamation 2004 525i Key FOB

Okay, I think I'm just making life harder on MYSELF now...

I attempted to replace the Battery in my Key remote (dimond shaped) and now it doesn't unlock or lock. I searched the forum for a fix and found that it needs to be reprogrammed. SO i did this....to the "T" numerous times. The whole unlock car from outside with key, get in, put key in ignition turn on (pos 1) no more than 5 sec, take key out, hold unlock while pressing lock three times. Nothing happens. I even watched youtube videos on this and still, no dice.

So then I do MORE research and find out that there are some keys that need to be reprogrammed using a tool similar to a scan tool.
I'm not sure if it's just that I'm seeing DIY threads/videos on vehicle NOT my make and model, or am I just going to have to eat the cost for a new key and just use this one as a spare.... PLEAASE can someone help me not have to go to the stealer!!

Are you absolutely sure you didn't damage the electronic components while removing the battery connection (soldering joints)?

I know the car is still recognizing when the remote is near the ignition and not, because before securing the casing around the circuit card it was loose, and if it was more than 6-12 inches away from the ignition it a message would pop up basixally saying something about the key being in the ignition but no remotes. They I would place the circuit card close to the ignition and the message would go away. I did this a few times to make sure it wasn't just coincidental.
