Steering angle sensor failure on 325i 2006??
Will need some help with this one here, took the car to the local bmw mechanic, scanned , and found out that the Steering Angle sensor is malfunctioning, and thats the reason why i have a yellow brake light on my dashboard, and another like a triangle with an arrow surrounding it, not quite sure about it, but he said scaner show that. Does any one hear about this problem before, i looked on REALOEM. and cant found such a part anywhere
. If anyone can help me with some info, and part location, this would be really helpfull for me. Everybody have a great one!!! |

OP, this is a fairly easy one to diagnose and I'd agree that your mechanic's diagnosis is probably correct. It isn't easy to change, and will have to be calibrated to the DSC/ABS system after it's installed. Because of that, and that you are going to be messing around with a very complicated column having an air bag module in it, I'd suggest you pay a pro.

Really OT: Well, I'm not going to answer anything else for a while; I've been right enough to agree with DSX twice in two days, that's a sign on heaven that I'm pushing my luck.

Sometimes its just a dirty sensor.
There are procedures for cleaning and replacement in the DIY and maintenance sections
here. http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16 Last edited by ctuna; 11-13-2012 at 12:21 PM. |

It's not brain surgery, but darned close. Mistakes can't be tolerated. I would not give this job to a B-tech without an A watching over him. I will close with this; cars brought in on the hook with parts hanging out of them ALWAYS cost more to fix than the ones which were not disassembled.

Well, not to be punctilious here, but the OP asked his question over 4 1/2 years ago using his one and only post.
Now, the 2P, using HIS one and only post, did ask the OP if he found anything , but I think a response is unlikely from the OP. The more current answers may help the 2P, but I think DSX's warning to not mess with this really complicated system if you need to be asking internet advice may be the best one. I mean, if we wanted to play with zombies, shouldn't we have done it 2 weeks ago?

Zooks, you know as well as anyone that in Cyberspace, time has little meaning until basic need demands reality. Munchies. Reading Room. Wife/Children. Make $. But date of original post? Nay, this very thread closes a cosmic Gestalt. Question: If necro post, has any time at all passed? . Last edited by CALWATERBOY; 11-13-2012 at 07:38 PM. |
