I am having an issue with my heater on a 1998 740il. The blower motor is working fine, however the heat will not come out until I start to drive the car (only blows cold until i drive). I do not know what causes this. Anyone have any solutions? Thanks.

Check your coolant level, be sure that the system is properly bled out as trapped air in the heater coil can cause this. Have you recently serviced the cooling system?

The radiator was flushed out about a month ago. Not sure if this problem existed before the radiator being flushed. I will check the coolant level, however I am not sure on how to bleed the coolant system. Any insight would be much appreciated! Thanks for your help.

From memory there is a valve or switch that prevents the heater (heat) working until the engine is up to temp. This item may be giving problems.
