oil usage on 550ix

i I LOVE MY 2012 550ix but it popped alight saying i was at minimum oil level and i should put in a quart.normal after eight months and 5700 miles on new car?

I had the same thing recently on my 2011 550i. I have significantly more miles, but I'm wondering if these turbo cars do burn oil? Never happened in the 12 years I owned my 540i-6.

This topic has been covered in many threads. Some owners have needed to add oil as early as 2kmi, but as their cars have begun to age its been reported that their oil adds have reduced. These cars seem to burn more oil until they truly broken-in which may not be until 20kmi. I'm now at 28kmi and my first & only oil add so far was at 11kmi, but I broke my car in hard. BTW, the oil adds are covered by the warranty.

My oil light came on last night coming home from work. Going to get it topped off today,550xi with 25k miles 2011

i have to add a quart roughly every 3-4k miles

2900 miles so far and nothing.

no soot on the exhausts either.
