It's darker, better imo.

The color is called Sakhir Orange. It definitely has reddish/orangeish tones, but it is not red. I happen to think it's really beautiful. I'm happy with the choice.

Yeah cause thats what I have its like a red but when your in it, its got a reddish brown tint which is way better than just kool-aid fruit punch red.

This is exactly right. And this is because
Much wider tires front and rear with larger contact patches, Michelin Pilot Super Sports which add a lot of grip, Active M differential which really is amazing in getting down the power, race tuned suspension, a genius engine design which pretty much eliminates lag, and probably the best hydraulic power steering in the business.

I have inquired about the M5 at my dealer. The trade makes it all a little complicated but not really, you get it on the trade or the purchase. He has one coming in Singapore Grey...which looks quite cool. Mamma mia, it looks so enticing. We'll see. Its a big change in dollars after only 11 months of owning my 535

I owned my 550 for 6 months . Even worse was the fact that I installed Dinan stage 4 just days before unloading the 550.

My plan all along was to jump to the M5. I had one on order back east in Singapore Gray but stumbled across this one at the dealer somewhat accidentally. They were configured the same minus color and night vision, but I bought it anyways. I couldn't resist.

BTW, Car and Driver did a test of a 528xi with eletctric steering and a 535xi with hydraulic in this month's test. They preferred the electric, and the instrumented tests showed the electric steering to be more linear, more predictable and build force in a natural way.

True. They are actually cheaper. However, you are forgetting that almost 600 hp is going to chew up those PSS tires at a much faster rate than my measly 300 hp chews up my Dunlop Sport Maxx run flats. Don't think you will get more than 10k miles out of a set of M5 rear tires. Probably closer to 7k if you drive it hard. I got 28k out of the Dunlops (all highway driving). So you factor that in along with much lower fuel economy translates to a much higher driving cost per mile. It is not the cost of the car that concerns me, but the daily driving cost to drive it the way I would need to drive it. Don't even get me started on maintainance costs.....

Me too. The M5 feels and drives like it is much smaller than it is. I attribute this to increased power and suspension enhancements.

Went to the dealer today and they had a new M5 that a customer did not take delivery on after losing a $5,000 deposit. The car was a special colour...flat black. No gloss. I wasn't interested but I did take a look at the instrument options and turned it on...what a sound. I did not want to drive it - would just drive me crazier.

just got a new one with 108k MSRP yesterday, talked down to 10% off, is it a good deal?
feel a bit harsher ride compare with my 2012 650i vert with 20"s, anyone has a M5 with 19"s?
thinking about to switch to 19"s.

MRSP is 113k in Canada with the Exec Pack and that seems to have every option available except for a fancy colour. Seems like 10% off is pretty good. Depending on allotments I'm told 4 months wait if you order one, at least right now. You probably don't need winters, (where i'd use 19s). I am assuming it has damper control?

Is that right now? The first ones were marked up but now they are not and allocations are available - I've been told that if I order now the car can be in production the following week. All M5s have a tremendous depreciation curve so I was getting ready to wait a year for the $20K discounts to start but 10% off MSRP sounds good to me too for a car available today.

The incentives aren't specific to the M5 and M6, they are available on all cars - which is an important difference.

This is the right time of year to buy a BMW regardless of which model it is.

The notion of the new M models not being excluded from incentives is surprising to me. I guess it won't be long before they no longer come out of dealer allocation.

BMW will have to lower the price a great deal to sell any meaningful volume of M5s. With the bad reviews and self destructing engines I'm hopeful that the mega discounts will happen sooner rather than later. What I liked the most about the M5 I drove was the immediate low rev grunt of that engine. Other than that I like my 550i M Sport better in many other ways, especially the looks. The M5 fender gills look ugly to me - chromed like the gills on Fords these days It seems absurd to pay $30K to $40K more for more power and same to worse looks when you can get a Dinan 2 tune for so much less.

Have you driven the new M5 yet? How does it compare to your Dinan S2 equipped 550? Is the torque feel much improved in your car? Why did the M5 felt like it had 200 lb/ft more torque to me when the difference with my car is only 50? (450 vs. 500). The only reason I have not purchased the Dinan tune yet is the possible warranty issues that may arise.

Bmwonly is the one who got the deal - good for him! . I'm still on the fence and trying to analyze the M5 market at this time, hence the question: Is that markup you were referring to happening right now is So Cal?
