Coolant Smell, No Apparent Leak

1st time BMW owner just bought our X5 last week. We bought it used and I'm noticing a coolant smell when my wife pulls into the garage. I'm pretty automotive savvy but I'm not noticing any leaks. There is no smell of coolant inside the vehicle. The car didn't come with a warranty either... Any ideas or specific areas to check for a leak?

coolant overflow tank? hoses, radiator....

Make sure the plastic tank is full, then run it and check for leaks.

After further inspection a little puddle developed under the car. There's only on whole in the plastic skid plate for liquid to come thru and that's where it is. The fluid is clear but smells like coolant. I checked reservoir and it looks like water and old brown coolant... Hits the water leaking with a tiny coolant in it... Could it be a water pump or lower radiator hoses? Shouldn't the coolant be blue?
