Body Twisting

This may be wierd, or i may be looking at this matter a bit too much, when when i am turning and hit a bump, the front of my car feels fine, but the back sort of steps out a bit. almost like the car is twisting.. in a straight line it feels fine. i highly doubt that it i something wrong with the chassis, but could it be something with the suspension? the car has done about 4 drifts in its lifetime so could that have done something? Help a worried e46er!

It's called bump steer or roll steer.

You might need to have your alignment checked, or perhaps there are worn rear trailing arm bushings, or some other suspension anomaly. If you have 80k miles or more, your shocks and struts may be in need of replacement. Your front control arms and/or bushings may be worn too.

How's your tire pressure? Too high and the tire may be jumping over bumps rather than gliding over them.

Jeff is right on the money....when all those rubber bushings get worn, everything gets sloppy and you lose torsional stiffness.

Thanks for all the input fellas. I googled subframe bushings and it looks like a tough DIY, but it can be done. As far as suspension bushings go, pretty common stuff, I'm just going to wait until winter is over to do it all
