Need advice: Thinking of purchasing a 750i

So the wife wants to get rid of the E39. We ran across this 2008 750i with only 11k. The color combo isn't that great (dark blue ex with a tan (light brown) int., but you get what you can. The dealer has it listed for $18.9k. It had 2 owners, clean title, and everything works fine. My question is there anything I should know and or look out for? Is this the best year to get/since it was the last year should all the bugs be worked out? Also, is that a good price? Thank for reading.

Few things that cant be noticed with a test drive and the main reason people sell these 750 models are smoke from exhaust pipe and transmission fault/slipping.

Solutuion: Once you meet with the seller, immediately have him turn on the car but let it idle for 15min while your discussing about the car. Those main problems I mentioned are very costly ($6000 and up) and you will only see these symptoms once the car is warm

You will feel transmision jerking/ slip n slaming ONLY after a good 15min of idle. At the same time the engine is hot enough to burn oil thus creating blue smoke fro tail pipe

$11K is a great price

Kingdomecome84 is right about the transmission problem. You will feel it kick from behind during test drive most of the time. Also the smoke problem, what I would add is test all of the soft close doors and do not touch a 750 without getting a detailed service history.

Thanks for all of the replies. But it didn't work out. The dealer said the price listed was a mistake. The really price is $28k. And of course they aren't going to honor the $18.9k originally on the ad. But thanks for everything guys.

Thats a bummer, There was a 2007 750LI with 32,000 miles on auto trader yesterday at BMW Valencia, I tried to find it again but they must have sold it. I was actually considering it as I've heard the Fo1's are worse than the e65's.

I did find another one. But this one is a 2006 750Li. Is this a good year to buy? I was told to stay away from the 02-03 models.
