New to this forum.
Quick qs, is this normal that ONLY ONE of the exhaust pipe (driver's side) that is in use MOST of the time? The left (passenger side) seems to be cold and not blowing at all...is this normal? I called my dealer they told me you must go over 2500 rpm to get the right one working....just wanna cross check with all the Bimmer expert here....so I dont get fooled by dealers...... Thanks alot for your answers..... PS: Please share some experience (both good and bad) with your MY2012 X5 35i if u are one of the owners. Last edited by FrozenGas; 12-19-2012 at 08:14 PM. |

Sometimes the dealers do know what they are talking about, not often but sometimes.
I don't know the exact variables that open the flap, but idling is only done through one pipe. Jay

Thanks for the quick reply. Idling is one pipe...but even when I accelerate, i only see condensation coming out from left pipe....can anyone actually confirm this is normal if a greater acceleration is needed from idling (above 2500 rpm) in order to see the right one working? =.=' I really can not test it cause I dont want anyone see me racing and follows my back to check....hahaha

Yes, that's correct. Only the M Performance exhaust will flow both sides at idle. Just leave it in park or neutral and rev the engine if you want to see if both sides work, it's vacuum controlled and opens somewhere around 2500 rpm.

I think this video makes it sound a little too raspy, but you get the idea, it has a nice burble at idle.

Here what the 2013 M performance 5.0 sounds like
i think there more of a noticeable difference on the 35 msport/mperformance than the 5.0 msport/mperformance The 5,0 msport/mperformance sounds a little bit throatier than the reg Msport...IMO ![]()
