Unable to control radio when phone is paired to car's bluetooth

My blackberry 9930 originally paired with my 2009 128i with no problems. Then one day the phone paired up fine but the tuner/ radio screen remained stuck on "phone connection active" and I was unable to control the tuner/ cd player. I was also unable to turn the phone off via the radio control panel.

I then took the car to the dealer and they were able to pair other phones to the car and have control of the radio / cd. We deactivated my phone and then re-paired it with the car and am still unable to control the radio/cd once the phone is paired up to the car. They said it was just my phone and nothing was wrong with the car. However, my husband's Samsung phone does the exact same thing. We are both unable to control the radio/cd because the radio screen becomes stuck on the phone screen.

I find it odd that both phones, two different brands lock up the radio control screen. Thoughts?
