used 7 series

I'm looking to get a used 7 series 2009-2011 year model. But I'm not sure which year model is the best. Should I avoid any year model due issues or recall problems? I hope to get some insight information from real owners. thanks a bunch!

well i'm a little biased....but the horsepower at 455 and torque at 515, but still pull high 20's mpg on the highway makes me say the AH7.....

Love the AH7 too.. maybe in a couple of years...

Isn't the hp 350 with 355 lb ft on the AH?

The 2013 AH7 is based off the 740's I6, the years before that it was based off the 750's TT V8, so figure the stats + extra HP/torque from the electric motor.

As for the original question, I'd recommend not getting the first model year (2009) as all brands historically have more issues when they first release a car. Also if you get a '10/11 you'll have more original warranty left.

Just have it checked out at a BMW dealership.

yeah the ah7 tends to be a comically funny sleeper car....shocked a jeep gc srt8 driver today ;P....nice looking/sounding jeep btw. as for sticking with anything with a warranty and after 09, better idea...happy hunting!

There is a big difference in price between 2009 and 2011 If money is not an object buy brand new.

It's 5% tint, on top of the factory 35% (or is factory 20%?) The windshield was 40% but due to the great state of California I had to remove the windshield.

The tint is very dark, probably too dark for most people at night, but I'm used to it as I don't like people peering in my windows looking at me

Sounds like risky business putting up a nice car on Ebay without a reserve. Good luck with the sale and hope that you receive what you are looking for.

When looking at the images, it seems that the passenger rear quarter has several dings. If this is just from the photo (reflection, etc.), you might want to remove the pic so that potential bidders don't make the wrong assumption.

Thank you for pointing out the pic, they aren't dents, but the pic certainly makes it look like they are

As for the no reserve on eBay, I've done it a few times before, and usually have pretty good results. I did sell an MB S65 about 2 years ago where it sold for $7,500 under what I had gotten an offer for a week earlier...that certainly wasn't fun. But I've been pleasantly surprised on both ends of the spectrum.

If anyone is in the market for a pristine, very lightly used 2011 Maserati GT convertible (red on black, black top, red stitching, with 4,000 miles feel free to PM me as well. That'll be up on eBay soon as well. Undecided about the no reserve or not for that one

2012 AH7 is a tick slower than the Alpina. 455 HP and about 515Tq, makes it stealthily quick

What are you going to replace your 7 with? And how'd you like the Masi? That's on my list of potentials for when my lease is up.

I really can't decide what I am going to replace it with. I put down a deposit on a 13 A8 with the new 4.0T, I am a pretty big fan of the interior (massage seats, diamond stitching, B&O system), even though the outside is ugly. I really wish the new S class was out by now, or I at least knew when it was coming out. I'd hate to spend 100K+ on a new luxo sedan, only to be outdone by the S class and all its glory in 6 months...although it could be a year or more for its release.

Any suggestions?

As far as the Maserati goes, it's a great car. Lots of fun to drive, sounds great, beautiful, but its certainly not a daily driver. Just driving from the Santa Monica to Beverly Hills in it is about enough for me. Its fun to take up to Malibu for a drive, but I would never be able to commute daily in it.

Funny you say that, you'd think a GranTurismo(Grand Tourer) would be comfortable enough to be a DD

I suppose some drivers mind find it comfortable enough to be a DD, but when your current DD is a 750, its hard to switch to something with not as many refinements and creature comforts.

Haven't thought about a 13 alpina. I hear good things, but right now with the Dinan tuning on my 750, I wonder how much of a difference I'll see....have never driven an Alpina though.
