Just picked up a 2013 535i (non x) is 59%/.00125 for a 36mo/12k. I believe 10k is +2% and 15k is -2%. You can buy down the MF an additional .00049 with multiple security deposits. (IRR is about 9%, a pretty good use of cash). Dealers are negotiating, I got invoice + holiday cash + app test drive + loyalty. This deal made it not worth while to keep my 2008 5, given coming maint and deprec.

63.5k msrp, 58k purchase price (invoice), put 4900 in security deposits down (fully refunded at lease end), no other cash paid, got 3250 in "incentives" to cover all drive offs + some cap cost reduction. $680 w/los angeles Tax. This is a 36mo/12k lease 535i sport. This is a pretty good deal. if you're new to leasing checkout edmunds.com and read up. Low purchase price + no money out of pocked + low MF + high residual + incentives = good lease.

No, cap cost reduction is like a down payment for a loan. You don't want to put out of pocket cash on a lease. If you total the car you will lose this $ most likely. Security deposits are just that, BMWFS holds the $ until lease return. You get it back, minus any excess wear and tear fees. The advantage of doing security deposits (BMWFS doesn't require them) is the lower money factor. MF on a lease is like interest rate. Multiply MF by 2400 to give you % interest rate. Example, .00125 x 2400 = 3% which is current 5 series MF for top tier credit. You can get to 0.00076 with 7 security deposits. A security deposit is = to one month payment. .00076 = 1.8% MF. CA is a very competitive market, so shop around. You can get a good deal. This forum on edmunds will help you out if you've never leased before. http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.ef9d9cd (just beware their forum layout sucks). There is a sticky in he ask a dealer section. It's worth a read if you are new to leasing.
