setting memory seats to key fob

Can you set two memory seats to each key? I have two key fobs, so there should be 4 different memory combinations/settings I can set on them right?

So when I unlock the door with key fob 1, how do I get it to automatically go to memory seat 1? How would I get it to automatically go to memory seat 2?
Same with key fob 2.

I use my key and stick it into the ignition. I'm not sure if you have to have the key in the ignition to set the memory seats to the key or not. I set my seat, press M then set it to Button 1. I get out of the car and lock it, thinking it should save memory 1 (my seat configuration) to my key.

My fiance takes her key, sticks her key in the ignition and follows the same steps, this time setting her seat to memory 2. She takes out the key and locks the door, thinking it will save memory 2 to her key.

But when I use my key to open the door, it doesn't go to my seat 1 but it stays at her memory seat. Am I doing something wrong?

Are you able to set 2 memory seating functions to each key fob? If so, how do you do that and how would you unlock key 1 to memory seat 1a or memory seat 2a and key 2 to memory seat 1b and memory seat 2b?

I can only speak to the later models. I have a 2011.

In order to save the settings per fob, I don't think it matters what fob was used to unlock the car.

What I did with mine was set the seat, mirrors, steering wheel, etc. for my wife and press the "M" (memory) button and the the "1" button on the left side seat cushion of the driver's seat (she is the orimary driver and carries fob #1. I then set my settings and pressed M and 2.

Once done, whomever opens the door, whether it's locked or not, the settings will adjust for the fob that is being held. (We have the Convenience, Comfort and Technology packages).

Why don't you BOTH use memory #1? It will be different with each FOB. At least this has ALWAYS been the case with my '06 7-series and it is still the case with my '12 X5d. In other words, you have TWO setting for EACH key. Doing what others pointed out with 1 & 2 on different keys WILL work but it's not working the way they think and is not needed.

On my 2012, there is a setting you can set where it says "Last seat position auto" or something like that. When you turn that on, it will automatically change to your last seat position based on the key.

yes, that was it! I don't think memory seats remember the lumbar and seating width though.

Can you set the key fob to open your trunk door? I will have to play with it later. Probably hold the button or something.

These vehicles memory seat setting is held for EVERY available setting on the seat (including lumbar). The ONLY caveat is that you have to WAIT for ALL the automatic adjustments to finish before you try to do something else or else the "return to..." setting changes will stop where they are in the process. If I recall correctly, the lumbar may be one of the last settings to change. I learned this the HARD way with my prior 7-series as I always seemed to be in a hurry anytime I was going somewhere. If the wife had driven previously, I had to wait until all her settings were cancelled and the car had changed to my settings otherwise I (quite literally) could not even get IN the seat.

If you hold the button under the door lock button down for 1 sec and let go, your rear lift gate should open.
