545i emmision message
I have a 2004 545i with 92k miles I purchased it a few months ago. When I started my car today it began running very rough just out of the blue. at the same time the service engine soon light came on. when I checked the message center it said that the emmisions control system was ready for a check this month November 2012.
This seems too coincidental to me. My question is, when the emmision control requires service based on time dows it automatically make the car run bad so I have to go to the dealer? |

BMW has figured out how to make their cars run like crap in order to get you to go to the dealership for repairs... When the iDrive message and service reminder hits, the car starts to sputter and cough. Its on page 84 of the user manual.
![]() Obviously I am kidding. You need to get codes run because the Emissions message you are getting could be any number of things. Secondary Air System, increased carbon buildup, MAF...
