Hi guys,
All your help with the SZL issue was much appreciated, now could use your opinion on this one. I have a 2007 530xi with about 68K. Was in Central PA this past weekend and was leaving a friend's place around 10pm Saturday night. Car was there for a few hours, temperature was about 30 degrees. I first received the snowflake warning about the outside temp before quickly getting the overheating drive moderately iDrive warning. Within a few seconds it went away but I stopped for a minute to see if it came back. Everything seemed fine so I kept going. Drove the car for about 2 hours after that, no highway or speeds over 40. Car drove great, no problems. Sunday morning I left around 10am and received the snowflake message again, about 38 degrees, when driving a few miles to get gas for my trip home. I filled up my tank and got on the road going maybe 50 but after a minute I got the overheating drive moderately warning again. 10 seconds later it turned into the second (scary) one, your engine has overheated please pull over. Thankfully there was a development right there so I pulled over and parked. By the time I had put the car into park, the iDrive message was gone. I didn't turn the car off, I just let it run for a minute to see what happened. After 5 minutes or so it seemed fine so I got back on the road. I was watching everything like a hawk and drove "moderately" just in case. The car drove like normal so I kept going, ended up driving the 3 hours back to Philly. By the second half of the drive I was back to my normal driving habits so was up to 80. Had no problems at all, drove like a dream. This morning I drove to work, temperature was about 40. No warnings this time, included regular and highway driving. At the moment all is well but I'm concerned about this popping up. Could it be related to the cold weather? Usually I just get in and drive without letting it warm up. Let me know what you think and what I can rule out please. Thanks!

Replace electric water pump. While you are replacing water pump, it's a good idea to replace thermostat as well.

Was the water pump and thermostat. Indy quoted $1,215 but got them down to $1,050. A little high but I like their work, MD Motorwerke by Philly.
Miss the car, definitely have a case of BMWitus. This is the greatest thread, has been keeping me entertained in the meantime: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=500193

A little over 69k, not sure if they're replacing with OEM.

Got it back finally, running great! They did use OEM part from BMW.
Car had been ready since Friday but I was out of town because of work and couldn't get it until last night. Was tough not having it around, I pretty much went through those stages of a breakup during the last week. Sadness, grief, denial, acceptance...
