Fortunately the 550 is free of that crap.

Aside from the added hp, the lack of ASS was what pushed me over to the 550.

I have it and LOOOOOOOVE it at 535i !!!!! plus u can turn it off at any time u want !!!

best thing I ever did was get it programmed to last setting, (ie off).
It is rough system, very noticeable on and off, and absolutely dangerous in lag trying to pull into traffic.
Also, it is amazing that their is not a safety override feature, if the engine shuts off via ASS, and you put the car in park, and open the door, the engine restarts.
Thus it is possible to exit the car, lock it and leave the engine on.
Happened to a family member who is deaf, drove in to a parking lot, stopped, checked something on cell, forgot that car turned off, came back to a running engine.

I know I may get some slack about this, but I mostly (not always) drive in Eco pro mode. That being said, I had the dealer change the ASS to lat setting, but it doesn't work the. Way I want it too. In the regular comfort mode, it does remember, but when u switch to Eco mode (which I have to do eac h time I turn on the car) it reverts to ass being on. I wish I could either have the car remember to sart in Eco mode or remember to keep ass off even when I switch into ec mode. I know Eco mode is meant for gas saving, but the ass is still annoying there that I don't mind forgoing the few savings. Hope that made sense.
