No check engine light at all
When turning on ignition, shouldn't the check engine light initially come on, then go out? I get NO LIGHT at all. The entire dash cluster is new and warranted. Am getting code P150 code with OBDII tester. Any ideas?

maybe the bulb is burned out or missing.
P0150 indicates a problem with the bank 2 pre-cat oxygen sensor. What model is it?

No, bulb is there...this car has a brand new $600 dash gauge set put in. It is my brother's car, we found it odd we have a code, but no light for check eng. It may still pass inspection as long as there are no codes being logged out. Got the O2 sensor off the rear bank- pre cat. Ordering it tomorrow. Only other problem is a "traction" light (like a wheel symbol) is lit up....the manual does not seem to address this very well, and there is no code showing up for it?
thanks |

Not all codes will trigger a light and not all scanners will read all codes.
If a minor fault only occurs once, the CEL might not illuminate. Depending on your scanner, it might not read anything other than generic engine codes. The stability control computer might not be talking to your scanner. OBD2 requires certain codes be readable by generic scanners. It does not prohibit the auto manufacturers from creating others codes that can only be read by proprietary scan tools. With that said...the CEL should certainly illuminate when you first turn on the car to show that it works. |

Factory manual states when installing new cluster, need to recode it using a DISplus, MoDic or eqiv. Scantool.
Apparently check eng light goes through the light module as well? Sent from my C5155 using Bimmer App |

join the club...
I have a thread somewhere on here with this exact problem. Even got someone to solder a new led in the back of the dash, but still no light. Thinking some previous owner somehow disabled the signal completely; it was/is suffering from constant missfires. Much the same as yours seems to have an issue as well... |
