Strange problem, you seen this one?
My 528i has been operating well lately, then this happened Saturday:
I had stopped at a retail store and upon my return to the vehicle I sat in the car, keys out of ignition and made a phone call. While calling I happened to push the throttle pedal several times, just out of idleness. Phone call completed, I then put keys in the ignition and start as normal and the 'check engine' light remained on. While driving after a half mile the eml light comes on and the car goes into limp mode. I shut it off, and then restart the engine. When I resume driving the same thing happens. The engine has a lopey dying idle. I have not been driving it since, as I have another car to drive. I have not pulled codes yet, but have a reader on the way. Any thoughts, or have you seen this one before? Cheers, RW |

I cant remember if the throttle connection is electronic or cable on that engine and year. If its electronic, you may have started the car with the pedal partialy depressed and you may need to recalibrate the pedal.
Pushing the pedal with the car off has no effect. |
