Noticed Something on the Gran Coupe

I was at the dealer the other day and sat inside the Gran Coupe in the showroom. It is a beautiful car. However, one thing I noticed bothered me a bit for a 95K car. When you sit in the driver seat with the door closed, you can see a metal gap between the edge of the interior door trim and the center pillar. I also noticed this on our X5 but on a 95K car? On the F10, the plastic trim extends throughout the edge of the door trim so no metal is exposed when the door is closed. Did BMW design this with a purpose?

I'm our I'd the country until Friday and pick up my GC from service Saturday. I'll take a look. Never noticed. You are talking about the back of the from door at about backrest? I'd tend to agree with you regarding coverings if that is the case. Now you're going to have me staring at this every time I get in it. LOL!

I only noticed that the car was missing about 150 hp given its sticker price. Pretty car though.

It's the gap between the edge of the doors in relation to the center B pillar. On the F10, there is plastic trim that goes on the edge but not on the Gran Coupe. It's hard to tell from the photo but it's that gap. Our X5 is like that too, just curious as to why they left it bare metal.

I would say thats barely acceptable in a 50K 3 series let alone any models above that. My 335 had the same gap and it was pretty noticeable since my interior was red and the car was white.

You know what I'm talking about Alan L. My wife thinks I'm crazy and the only one to notice that. Maybe she's right to some extent as I've never read anything on it here. You're right, my wife's X5 is white and it's really noticeable....at least to me. Her previous E92 was Space Gray and didn't jump out as much. I'm just puzzled as to why they would leave it bare metal.....

Haha, this is spot on. For the price of a loaded 640i GC, I can get a CLS63 AMG or spend a good chunk of change less and get an Audi S7 that will smoke the 640i and 650i GC.

That being said, some guy just got a white 640i GC in my area and I've seen it driving around. It is GORGEOUS!
