quick help about lease deal

I live in new york and we ordered a bmw from the dealer but didnt sign any paperwork yet. Well I come home and find 4 messages on my cell phone from the dealer saying that the paperwork needs to be signed today because its the end of the month and the deals are changing.

What I would like to know is, is he desperate because the deal is going to get even better?

The original deal we agreed on was 3220.00 down at 552 per month for a 335xi and the only options I go was DHP, sports trans, and auto headlights.

Can someone inform me what your honest opinion is?

He wants the sale booked for november. If you submitted a credit app, you are rate protected for 60 days past the end of the program you are approved for. The november program is good till jan 3, so you would be locked till march.

If the car hasnt yet arrived, why does he want you to start paying?

I have a car on a ship right now, my dealer has put no pressure on me to sign anything except for the initial purchase order

That's good to know for folks considering ordering. Do such "protections" apply to finance rates and cash incentives/bonuses as well?

it depends. if theres a condition that says "must take delivery by" then its not lockable. for example, for me, the loyalty credit, holiday credit, bmw app credit are all lockable. the pull ahead i am using expires at the beginning of jan, its not lockable.
best bet is to check with the dealer.

to the op, it doesnt matter if the rates get better for you, it doesnt affect the dealer's bottom line. so the only reason i can think they want you to sign is:
a) to book the sale for novemeber
b) if you havent completed a credit app yet, they do need to lock you, but that shouldnt be signing the contract, just submitting the app to bmwfs.

fyi, west coast is a 90 day lock.
