Automatically start heating steering wheel and seats on start

I have looked at the manual but can't figure out if it's possible to automatically start heating the steering wheel and seats on start. Currently I have to restart the steering wheel heater each time and the seats I believe if I start the car after some time.

In my previous cars the seats stay heated until turned off manually. I live n IA so we are going need them heated for sometime.

I have a 2012 X5 50i with cold package.

I've not seen this feature, even in other cars. I have other cars with Remote Start, and would love to have the heated seats turn on with the remote start, but I have not yet seen that option.

From a design perspective it would be simple, but there must be a reason they choose not to do that.

I'm not saying for sure but you may be able to have it coded in. It will be a pain in the summer though

My '14 Ram 1500 turns on the heated seats and heated steering wheel automatically if the temps <40F. If I use the remote start to get the car warmed up the inside temps are 70, the seat & wheel warmers are on and the windshield is defrosted Not possible on either of our '13 X5's.

My '05 Mondeo Wagon (euro car) automatically turns on both electric windshield and rear window defrosters when it's below 39*. It's certainly possible, but not sure if it can be done with the X5.

The lawyers won't even let the tailgate be closed from inside. Automatically heated seats and steering wheel? Nein!
Without remote start, automatically heated seats are pointless.

Remote start is possible, Okee (codemycar@gmail.com) has a module which allows it.

Both my maxima and legacy gt rem the heated seats previous settings. Just another thing to rem to turn on when it's freezing outside.
