2013 x5 35d discontinued?
I have a 2011 x5 35d and love it. 23000 miles in first year. Previous average new car miles only around 10,000 miles. Love to drive this one. I was reading consumer reports last night and saw that the 35d was discontinued for 2013. That bothered me as I was looking forward to getting a 2014 or 2015 when I had over 60,000 miles on mine. Then I read here about bolt related recalls affecting the 2011 x5. Does anyone know what's going on with the 35d?
Thanks |

I spoke to my dealer just two days ago, he takes orders for 2013 X5d. Expected end of production is around june/july 2013.

What got my attention regarding the 2013 x5d was seeing the comment from "Consumer Reports" in the latest issue of the magazine. Best and worst new cars which is to be displayed until January 21st 2013. The words in the write up on page 58 are "...The diesel version has been discontinued for 2013.." In talking to my BMW dealer earlier this year I was told that the entry level would have the 4 cylinder diesel and the 6 would still be available. So I don't know where consumers gets there info but am going to assume they just got it wrong.
Thanks I do have another concern though. On my way down i5 last month I stopped at a station and saw where the diesel contained 5 percent biodiesel. It says near my filler not to use biodiesel. Is that going to be a problem more stations start using biodiesel? Thanks again |

I just read my manual and it does say that biodiesel up to 5 percent is ok.

Also, keep in mind that any station can put up to 5% biodiesel in and not even tell you, as the standard for ULSD allows it. |

You do realize that asking a BMW dealer (or a car salesman) is perhaps the worst way to keep informed as to future product availability.... at least Consumers TRIES to get it right... and doesnt just make crap up.

I think success of sales for 35d depends heavily on location. There are a LOT of them here in NJ on the road, definitely more than 50i.

If you are in Ventura just go up the road a piece to Santa Barbara and talk to our fest founder Jon Shafer. He will give you the straight scoop on what is selling and what is not. Try jshafer@sbautogroup.com
