Chevy importing Holden SS V to sell as Chevy SS

I like this! Even the interior looks nice. Would take this over a CTS.

Yes, it's a new platform, but in function it's an updated G8. Which was pretty popular until Pontiac was killed off.

But sounds like it's gonna be priced for Chevy diehards: $50k. That's out of my price range for any car, much less a Chevy.

EDIT: never mind, I found a source elsewhere that confirms that its getting the 415-hp 6.2 with a 6-speed paddle-shifted slushbox (that most buyers would opt for anyways). It doesn't really matter to me as a big V-8 doesn't make sense for me. I'm more likely to get a Fiesta ST.

Talk about opposite ends of the automotive spectrum.

My thoughts:

• Never buy a new car. $50k price new = $40k a year from now, $35 two years from now, $30k three to four years from now. Save 40% and buy it used after the initial depreciation gets paid by some sucker who turns it in after the lease.
• American made or Aussie made? If it's American made, expect less than ideal build quality and more than average maintenance costs. Not sure about Aussie engineering and craftmanship. Reliability would be a crapshoot.
• I like the styling, but I'd want to know how the performance compares to BMW M3. Really, it all boils down to 0-60 time and Willow Springs laptime for me.
• Manual transmissions rule. They last longer, are more reliable, are more fun to drive, and carjackers don't know how to drive them. That said, if the car's "auto" trans was a dual-clutch automated manual like a Ferrari 458, and came with launch control, then I'd take it.
• Being a Chevy, I'd bet performance parts are available for a much lower cost than for an import...

Wow, GM back to their old, cost cutting and offensively-assming-of-consumer-ignorance tricks.

This Holden already failed as the Pontiac G8. Pontiac the brand failed because it was rebadging subpar GM chassis' that were often carryovers and already dated.

So now they bring the G8 back under a new guise and marketing schtick, based on an old chassis that although potent in its own right, was never a true winner to begin with? C'mon.

.... If this is in fact an all new car, all new platform from the ground up from the G8, then I stand corrected.... though, why the hell would they bring something here that so staunchly resembles the G8. The structural elements of the car look identical to the G8, it looks looks like a classic GM "new bumpers, lights and badging" job.
