Exclamation To repair, modify, or part out - that is the Q. 01' X5 4.4i

Well, After putting my e38 in the grave we bought a 01' e53 4.4i also, blk on blk..Well, our teen decided to attempt to drive through a stopped car.

It seems the fenders will be okay, the following parts are already off and I'm looking for replacments. Some I've found on ebay, or chicago CL but it seems 01-03 X5's are hard to come by thus the title...I would need $9,500 to break even if sold/parted out. I figure around 2,500 to repair. Bought 10/20 - Foolishly had liability on it when I called into my agent and said call me with comprehensive by Dec. 1st.

The parts and prices are what I know of and have found so far.
If you have any of these and can get them to Chicago/Midwest for less than listed I'm listening/ Also, if someone wants to go in on a parts car with me?? or buy mine..

*Was also thinking since I have the opportunity - Go with aftermarket or alt. year parts
Parts needed: In Black where applicable (unless I get it painted)
Hood $200
Kidney Grills $45
Front Bumper Cover $200-($360 complete black with foglights and all trim)
Fog lights $50
Headlights $100-$300
Trim under headlights
Radiator Support $125
Front bumper support/cross member support $125
Push (front) fan $100
Engine fan blade $24
Top radiator support cover $20
(Should but might not replace) inner wheel well drivers side $45
headlight mounting bracket 2 $10ea.

Please write with ANY input...

I have a pair of Hella xenon headlight housings for an 01 E53. The drivers side has the mounting bracket, the passenger side does not.
They're bare, meaning the ballasts and the bulbs have been removed. The leveling motors are included and work fine.
Takes about 5 minutes per light to transfer the ballasts/bulbs. They're not perfect, but they're usable and well within your budget
They have orange sidelights (no sport package) if that matters.

PM me your email address and I can email you pics.

Forget about breaking even. What you paid for the vehicle is a sunk cost. It is now worth what it is worth regardless of what you paid.

Wow...It's been a while. The E53's getting fixed!

She's been in my garage parked since this last post and in the last week I've found the following:

Hood : OEM (Silver) needs to be painted black to match. With all vents grills etc. $500.
Complete front bumper assembly w/w w/o parking assist including driving lights $500.
Core support $100

Now I just need the push fan and together she goes..

Can't believe it's been almost a year.

Shawn
