Black roof rail question

Hey guys, I'm in the process of ordering a carbon black x5 with m sport and i wanted to get the X5m high-gloss black roof rails - not a big fan of the silver roof rails on an all black vehicle. It seems that I can't order them. Do you know where I could buy them? On bmwusa, they are a $100 option when you build the X5M. Any help would be appreciated.

Changing them after you get the X5 is expensive because the headliner has to come out and it is a lot of labor. I have heard that it would cost about $1100 to change them. You probably get the shinny black roof rails under the individual order process but most dealers don't know how to or don't want to do it. Check with some of the sponsors and see if they will do it for you.

Any luck with the high gloss black roof rails?

They can be ordered from the parts department and they cost about $650 for the pair plus labor for the install. A few people on the xbimmers forum were saying to either paint or powder coat them and it would cost $500 or less. I might do that. Hoping to take delivery this week and then tint the front windows and re-assess how they look in person.

Maybe you can plasti-dip them without taking them off the car (careful masking, etc)?
