Bluetooth Streaming

Hey guys, I'm in need of some help! I have a 2011 X5d but it does not have Bluetooth streaming. I am wondering if there is a way to enable this or if it was something that had to be done while the vehicle was being built?

Thanks again!

What was your production date. I believe if your 2011 was produced before 10.2010, you will not have the needed combo box which is hardware based and not software. You can retrofit this option. Search on combo box.

Do you happen to know if adding a combo box would do anything to the warranty? Maybe I will go and talk to my dealership on Monday.

The dealership will not do it. You will have to donut your self or find a non dealer to do it for you and the nod ate the software.

Love drunken responses.

BTW, how would you know if you have the combo box installed? I have bluetooth capability for the phone pairing. From reading some of the info, it seems I need to get ConnectiveDrive and BMWApps enabled, correct?

I have been able to pair my BT phones since my 04 545. The combo box is specifically needed for the streaming. You do not need BMW apps for BT streaming to work. I can stream on my M3 with no BMW Apps installed. You can check your build date based on the drivers jam. If it was before 10.2010 build then there is a good chance you don't have it. If you have your original build sheet, it will also list the combo box. Lastly you can have your dealer run your vin to let you know if you have it.

Here is the last test that I know of, do you need a Y cable to listen to music off your phone or can you use any ol cable. When you play music, does the cd cover show up on the idrive. If it does you have a combo box

good advice for MRV99. DO NOT ask the dealer, IMO. There 'solution' will be to trade the car in on a new one 'that has that option',

Open the drivers door, look at the build date.

In terms of the warranty, they could always hassle you- but it IS a 'BMW part', and once installed and working the odds of them evening KNOWING it was there are slim.

OP - here is what I did to solve this issue in my car - which missed the streaming BT audio by a few months.

As mentioned first confirm you don't have it . . .
