cylinder head questions

I have a M50 non Vanos with a blown head gasket.

Cant seem to find a reasonably priced re-manufactered head...

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Up here in the foothills near Sacramento, CA.

Someone said Rancho Cordova (?)

Thanks in Advance!

Define 'reasonably priced'. The head alone will cost you 6-800$ in Australia. + gaskets + coolant + other bits you may need + fitting.

Yep, to confirm, that price was non VANOS 6. Heads take me a day and a half to de-fit re-fit, but then I'm fussy.

ya lookin around 130 to 180 to machine head, acid dip about 50 and run around the ports 70... with the lot that gives you an opportunity to look for more power from your head.....BUT.. if its been machined before and down to its limits its a throw away ....give yourself options....

I would think you would be tripping over indie BMW shops in Cali? I would be visiting those shops and having conversations with them about who to use for machine work, if your plan is to DIY this project. Buying a reconditioned head that somebody has had to inventory will probably cost you more but, I am with the others, how much is too much?
