Ordering 2013 535i - Need Help!

Hi all,

I'm planning on leasing a 535i and I have a few questions about the options and pricing before heading to the dealer. Any help would be much appreciated.

Firstly, I am getting the M Sport package, and I can't decide if I should just get the Dynamic Damper Control option ($1,000) or go for the Dynamic Handling Package (DDC + ARS + Active Drive for $3,500). Can someone please enlighten me on the differences. My driving consists mostly of city and highway with the occasional track day.

Secondly, I am considering European Delivery and I'm wondering if I still have some wiggle room over the sticker price at the dealer (after getting approx. $3,600 off on ED). I'm in Central Florida. How much room do I have to negotiate if any?

Thanks!

So DDC - the M-Sport comes with a Passive Sport suspension which means its all the time, no adjustment. Take it for a spin, if you like then their is no need. If you think sometimes you would like it softer than by all means add the DDC. IMO the Package is over priced. Again - My Opinion

ED - You absolutely have room. YES, YES. I got my car at $500 over ED invoice price. Forget MSRP. Go to BMWCONFIG.COM, and get the invoice price of your car. Dont forget to change the delivery from US to ED.

Post back when you get your deal but BEFORE you accept. Make sure you understand Aq fee, money factor, sales price before incentives, etc. Good luck.

I'd stick with the M-sport standard suspension and spend that money on the fancier nappa multi-contour seats.

Got back from the dealership and I believe I got a not so good deal but see below and let me know what you think:

Euro Delivery MSRP: 59,723

Cash (down): 5,000
Rebates: 1,500 (I think the CA said it's the holiday rebate or something)

Security Deposit: 800
Upfront: 1,516.61 (Includes 1st month payment + acq. fee of ~ 750 - That's what I think the CA said)
Cap Reduction: 3,409

Money Factor: 0.00180 (CA said it's based on A tier credit rating, but I think it will go up because of my average credit)

Monthly Payments for a 36 month / 10,000 mi lease: 774 (incl. state & local taxes of ~ 6.25%)

Finally, invoice price according to BMWCONFIG.COM is 54,995.

I asked the CA for a better offer, and he came back with 750. And the CA also tried to dodge my question about invoice price and said that it doesn't apply to Euro deliveries and he can only work with the MSRP - is he BS'ing?

So, what do you guys think? Am I being ripped off? I can get more specific info from the CA if you need it to determine if it's a good deal.

Thanks!

750 means nothing. What's the SELLING price. How much over INVOICE did you get the car for.

The dealer gave me 59,723 after I built it out, and said there's a 1,500 rebate.
So that makes the selling price 58,223? And as i mentioned invoice for this build is 54,995.
So around 3,225 over invoice?

Save yourself the headache and use one of the sponsors of the board. Make them an offer over ED invoice and it's done.

First you need to go to the Ask a Dealer forum and learn all about BMWFS leases and what your options are. Put as little money down as possible on a lease. Use Multiple Security Deposits to reduce the MF. ED residuals are based on U.S. delivery MSRP. There is a non-negotiable 0.0003 MF markup for ED leases, but BMWFS pays your second lease payment, because your car will be in transit.

Some dealers will not budge from ED MSRP. There is a good reason for this. It is explained in the ED wiki in ED 101. Using a forum sponsor CA may be your best way to get the best deal. Since you are in Florida Adrian Avila in Atlanta is probably the most logical choice.

I have not driven an F10 with the M Sport suspension, so I can't comment on it. I can tell you ARS is outstanding. It eliminates virtually 100% of body roll. It makes the car handle really well.

Contact Greg Poland and Pacific BMW, he did my ED. A few hundred over ED Invoice, no muss no fuss.

WHen I look at your deal -

Sale price is high
Money factor is marked up
Aq fee is marked up.

This is a terrible deal, but not to worry that is why you sought out info and did not take the plunge.

Contact Greg Poland in CA or there is another forum sponsor in Atlanta as well (Adrian?).

They will order the ED car for you and you can pick it up at the PCD center in South Carolina.

Thanks for all the advice people! I just sent a PM to Adrian. He's out of the office through Dec. 3rd. So I'm not sure if I will hear back from him before then.

One more question about the car - I'm getting it with manual transmission and want to hear what people have to say about it. I cannot test drive a stick because no one has it in stock, and my only experience with BMW's manual transmission is from occasionally driving my roommate's E90 328i which leaves a lot to be desired. My 2008 Acura TSX has one of the best 6-speed manuals of all time and I want to get some owners' feedback.

Thanks again!

Here is the best deal I have on the table right now for a 550i xDrive:

550i xDrive
Jet Black Exterior
Venetian Beige Interior
Dark Red Sycamore Wood Trim
Cold Weather Package
Driver Assistance Package
Driver Assistance Plus
Dynamic Handling Package
Executive Package
Luxury Seating Package
M Sport Package
Sport automatic transmission with shift paddles
Automatic High Beams
Power rear sunshade with rear manual side window shades
Active Cruise Control

MSRP: 84,875
Mileage: 10,000/year
Sale price: 78,500
Rebates: 2,750
Fees: 1,141 (725 BMW Acq fee, 399 Dealer fee, 17 title/lien fee)
Final cap cost: 76,891
Monthly Payment: 916/month + tax
Money Down: 0

I am waiting to hear back from two other competing CA's at other dealerships to see if they can beat. Additionally, I will likely add the power rear sunshade with rear manual side window shades option, but that shouldn't change the deal much.

I think this is a great deal. I will pull the trigger in the next few days when I'm confident I've received the best offer.

-Corey

I am a manual whore and have had them on several E46's as well as the F10 I ordered and although I am not regretting it too much - do not underestimate how often you will need your right hand free to run all the iDrive stuff and it will get annoying in traffic if you are trying to do both. This is never a problem on my E46 or previous cars with MT's as at most you are making a quick touch of a button on the dash without having to get deep in the iDrive all the time.

The new 8 speed is always very fast in terms of shifting up/down and also will get better mileage and just seems to make sense on a car this size. I also find myself just stomping around in 3rd gear all the time (you can't really hear the engine) and getting awful mileage. I also find the 1st gear extremely short as well. I would get the auto with SAT flappy paddles if I really was pressed to order again even though the LT costs on the MT will be much lower (and I plan on keeping this vehicle for 10 years.)

The 6-speed in the 535 will shift pretty much just like the one in your roomie's car. It is the same transmission. You might be able to find a 335 with a manual to try. Doesn't really matter if it's a new F30 or a used E90, 'cause it's the same engine/transmission combo. Ironically, BMWs are known for not having really precise shifters.

Lots of people change the shift knob. I would. The E90 M Sport knob or an E46 ZHP knob are two possibilities. Changing the knob is easy.

Hmm... so looks like I will be breaking tradition and buy an automatic

Does auto vs manual sway the lease terms any how... any chance I can lower my payments a little with the automatic?

Nope. However, a large, possibly non-refundable deposit is likely with a manual transmission order. The dealer will likely be fairly nervous about you not taking the car.

That's a good idea, go troll some dealer selling an E90 manual and test drive it. I had no idea it was the same exact gearbox. I may not be the best source of info as this is my first iDrive vehicle so those coming from E90 manuals with iDrive may not be annoyed with it and tbh, I only have put a few hundred miles on this car since I bought it in September and by no means drive it every day.

BTW the shifter is very much like (prob the same as) the old ZHP weighted shifter, here is mine.

Yeah I don't really care about the iDrive annoyance while driving a stick! But I care about the feel of the shifter, the throw length, and clutch feel. Like I said I love the my TSX, and absolutely hate my roomie's E90 328i.

I'm kind of leaning towards the sports auto transmission right now.

One last question about the build... hopefully will be my last. You guys are being a great help! Kudos!!

Are the multi-contour seats worth the extra 1,300? I want to get the nappa seats but can only do it with nappa leather seats

I don't really care about ventilated, and active seats, so I don't need the luxury seating package. And I don't drive a lot. The longest I'd drive at a stretch will be ~ 350 mi. My commute to work is 2 miles each way and I probably drive another 5 - 10 miles / day during the week.

The multi-contour seats are worth every single penny!!! An absolute must have! Love the articulated backrest! You don't realize how unsupported your upper back and shoulders have been until you experience it. And how good it feels to have that support.

DDC - Must have option. With all the complaining about how the F10 rides like a boat this is a must. The different modes really changes the car from a soft Cadillac cruiser to a semi sporty Bmw.

Sports Auto Trans - If you aren't going for the manual this is also a Must have option. For $500 its a no brainer since you also get the nicer shifter with the paddles as well. The SAT doesn't behave like any other automatic i've ever driven in the past. Its very manual like in sport mode and very quick to down/up shift.

Multi Contour Seats - Love them. they are by far the most comfortable seats my ass have ever experienced and there are countless of other reviewers saying the same thing about them.

Nappa - Brings the interior look and feel to 7 series category.

I have all of the options above and I couldn't leave any one of the off the list if i had to do it over again. The one option i didn't get on my car that i wish i did were the top/side view cameras. (i only have the rear cam). The F10 is a big car and i can totally see how the cameras could be very useful when pulling in and out of driveways/parking spots.

Alan
