Curious question

Starting in 2006 (I believe that's when the first 650 came out) and going up to and including 2011. What model year was the best overall 650?
One answer might be a year with the most horsepower or statistically low maintenance, better upgrade ability, electronics package…...
It takes a trained eye to see the subtle differences between these years so in other words, setting everything else aside….. purchase price, warranty etc.….. what's the best year and why?

2009/2010 from what I've heard.

I have owned my 05 645 for 4 years I think? I have never owned a car this long, & without it, what would I do with my spare time! I really love the car so much, I might be buried in it! If I were to buy a newer model, I just might not like it as much? I drive the car maybe once or twice a week, & enjoy looking at it in the garage! It's a keeper!

What else do you say?

Whats with the N62 hate?

I will say the 2010 since it has the updated Idrive. It is the most significant upgrade item of all the years. Other than that the general electronics are the same, the 2009 only has the upgraded controller but the old Idrive. The 2008 has the upgraded exterior lights, but that is fairly minor and even a small amount of people who own these cars would notice a difference. The engine, performance, suspension, tranny, all are the same from 2006 to 2010.

He's probably worried about the coolant pipe issue - $6K - $9K fix at the dealer for a $2.50 part install. You can have the fix done at an indie mechanic for $1.5K - $2K or DIY it if you have a few days of spare time.

I'm with Mark 100% - I would vote for a 2010 because of the CIC iDrive which is the only update that matters over the years. The front clear corner markers are a nice update too but that is minor.

I like your answer in the other VOTE thread, hold out for the 2012. Since the OP was asking the question regarding the existing E63/E64 platform that was the best answer we could give. But personally I would hold out for the F12/F13 platform instead just like you. You can get into the 2010 pricing and it really isn't that much more to move to the 2012, the cheapest Vert for a 2010 on cars.com is $51k. The cheapest Vert in the 2012 model is $66k. That for vehicles with less than 30k miles.

The 2012 are dropping rapidly as expected, we may not have to wait but another year until they hit my magic feel-good number in the mid-40's.

The reason I was asking was I get an offer on my car every now and then.
Should i take one, I was curious on what to replace it with since I cant see me without a 650 in the stable...
The new 650's are nice, especially the interiors but I haven't warmed up to the body... I cant stand the view from the rear....

I still love the body lines of my '06, I am in no hurry at this point to get rid of it yet. When it starts to give me troubles I will consider it, I am officially 3 months out of the CPO coverage and so far so good. Probably bad luck to say that out loud...

I own 09, so 09 is the best yeah! Haha sometimes I was abit regret by not doing abit more research when buying so I can save my cash. I tested drive the new A6 last Jan, dont like the handling, was looking at 08 and 09 650i or 07/08 M6. When to test drive the mine. See the controller different and newer year. Fall in love. Get it. Then realize its look almost same with 04. But still love it. Even though sometimes Im honestly quite regret that I didnt test drive the M6. I would definitely get it if i test drive it.
