+1 on MOMA

Excellent recommendation.

Go to Guy Fieri's "Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar" in Times Square and see if the food is as bad as described in this review

One plan could be this (IMO): You are staying on the EAST side on 62nd Street...

#1 Weather should be nice. Dress warmly but not the parka. It will be in 50s-60s. So sweater (?) and medium jacket and hat... BRING YOUR CAMERA.

Go out of the hotel and walk WEST to 5th Avenue. You know it, because if within 2 blocks, you hit a highway and river, you went the wrong way

---- If hungry and like burgers: Walk up to 64 street, still going west and ask about JACKSON HOLE Burgers. (An opinion - see below).

Continuing West, you will get to 5th Avenue.
There you will be at Central Park and now head SOUTH. Choices really begin now.
Walk SOUTH on 5th Avenue - Here you have all the famous stores. IMO, Stay walking SOUTH on 5th Avenue:

60th Street - You have the Apple store, the Plaza hotel, Central Park (but don't go to it yet).

57th Street - Tiffanys, Trump...

48th Street: ROCKEFELLER CENTER, XMAS TREE, TOP OF THE ROCK... St Pats Cathedral

42nd Street - NY Public Library (the one with the two lions)

34th Street - Empire State Building.

Now @ 34th you can walk WEST to Broadway and head uptown.

Walk up Broadway

42nd Street Times Square - A tourist trap but who cares. You are a tourist.

51st or So: Tonight Show Theatre

59th street - The South West side of Central Park. Time Warner Building with Stores.

You can now walk EAST through Central Park and you would come out by the Apple Store (from Above)

Continuing EAST, you walk back to your hotel.

Phew.

NOTE: Empire State Builidng and Top-Of-The Rock - There might be lines to get to top. You may have to wait. In the summer time, the lines can be a long time.

From 59th to 34th is an easy walk. Lots to see.

First time: Museums are nice, but you are sort of trapped in-doors. Good for rain days.

You don't need to take a cab, you're in midtown.
There are 9 million restaurant choices in the city, everyone has an opinion, or two. Pizza is an individual choice. There is no best pizza place in NYC. I always wonder how food cart vendors wash their hands or take care of scratches... Oops, an opinion...

Keep your wallet in your front pocket and hold on tight to your Iphone. You never know.

Don't take pics in the middle of the street.

You're hotel is is near 2nd avenue. There are lots of bars to go on that avenue.

You are also near the TRAM to Roosevelt Island. That is an easy 30 minute ride back and forth... Photography thingy to do.

That would be it for one afternoon.

As for night-life, depends on what you are into...

ED

PS: DON'T BUY ANY TYPE OF ELECTRONICS FROM ANY ELECTRONIC STORE! Most of them are total rip-offs. There is a big legitimate store for electronics on 34th and 9th (that I would recommend) but you aren't here to buy electronics, so use mail-order.

Visited my second favorite Italian bakery tonight which just moved up a slot to #1. -- Pasticceria Bruno in the Village. Right around the corner from one of my all time favorite restaurants, Arturo's.
