Checked out the X1 today-Not too shabby
Dropped off my 335d to get the ECU reprogrammed under a recall. While I was there I did a quick checkout of the X1 in the showroom. I had seen one in person several times including before US release during my ED in July 2011. But this was the first time I've been able to sit in one and really check out the interior.
It was a jet black sport line .28i xdrive Highlights: -Overall I was impressed with the interior size. -The rear hatch area was much bigger than I expected. -The steering wheel is awesome! -Nice cockpit feel and layout though it feels a bit tighter than my E90. Lowlights: -The gear shifter was funky but haven't actually driven it. -Some of the material strike me as significantly cheaper than my E90. The Nevada leather seems particularly cheap. Unless I desperately wanted something other than black or beige I wouldn't spend the money. The door materials also struck me as cheap. Otherwise everything else seemed straight out of the E9X parts bin (which I consider a good thing). I'm hoping to take a test drive when I pick up my car. Then all I'll need to do is convince the wife that she needs to have one. Maybe an ED next summer.
