What's an ideal M3 look like to you?

BMW will release a brand new one in 2014, and Steve Sutcliffe has his wish list all filled in. He takes a hands-on look at three of its predecessors, and comprises his own list of optimum ingredients.

The ideal M3? An updated E30 M3, with some light weight bits to make it even lighter. A 2.5L NA 4 cylinder making about 250hp would be fine with a curb weight under 2500 lbs. Leave the monster horsepower engines for the muscle cars M5 and M6.
