6 Series
The BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations. |

A 2010 for $59k?
If that is the case I would just pony up the extra dollars and get this car, a 2012, at $66k. Way faster, better warranty, updated and better design. At least in my opinion! http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1 |

#3 You’ll have plenty of money left over for repairs if needed.

What are the repairs needed? You owe 18,000 what can you sell/trade for?

Repairs needed are valve seals (smoking) and bearings, I already put $3000 in it (leaks)...

So the question is that if the 2010's have the same engine, should I just repair what I have...eventually, it will happen again....

I have 05 645 and had what sounds like the same leaks and had to spend around 3,800 and car runs great now. But with an older car you will have little things here and there go wrong, mine is paid for so no brainier for me to keep mine. For you I would weigh out the newer car price and what you will get for old car or just fix and keep what you have.

I think its better to keep urs unless u really love how the e63/64 looks then choose option 2. Since 2010 not much different from 09 except idrive, but 09 has the ceramic control which to me looks so much better than 08 and older.

I would keep/fix the current car and save up for a 2011 F12/F13. The others on your list will be way too similar to the current car for a large chunk of cash.

I say keep it. Won't get a great price on trade and the other options look just like it minus the engine.
You will be jumping right back in the hole when you are this close to having no payments.

All sounds great...I think since the same engine is in 2010, I may keep what I have; at least I know it's fixed to specs...thoughts?

I struggled with this decision recently. I was tired of the repair costs, but loved my car. I went out test drove several cars, including 2010 BMW M5, and M6's, 2012 Audi S5, 2010 Jaguar XK. I went with the 2010 Jaguar XK and love it. In light of the problems and repairs I did a many on my 2007 BMW 650i (I bought her with high mileage, so I knew there would be repairs) This time around I went low mileage and bigtime warranty, grin!

I think you will be happy with your decision. There is (to me at least) a marked difference between the older V8 and the new twin turbo. It is of course more powerful, but the acceleration seems smoother and has a very nice exhaust note. The interior is more refined as well. Go with the 12 or 13 when you're ready.
I also looked at/drove some of those cars. That Jag is a sexy beast!! Almost bought one, but the backseat is completely useless and I occasionally have my daughters (6&8) in the back. The Jag is also super light and I have gotten used to the feel of BMW over the last 2 decades--I couldn't make myself switch to the Jag. I must say though, the looks almost sold me!

Had them both
Here is my Timeline with both cars:
Own a 2008 650i vert for 2 years, then got a 2010 Jaguar XK 3 year lease that is comming to an end now. Presently, just hammer a deal on a 2013 640i coupe, currently on a boat heading to New York. The following are my observations on both cars: Jaguar XK: Eye catching sexy lines, have gotten more compliments on this car that I ever did while driving the 650i. Interior, nice leather stitching, comfort. Powerfull growling engine. Main draw back: Interactive navigation/control screen still requires finger touching entries, which distracts from daily driving. NO Voice comand here (years behind BMW). Back seats are for groceries only. 650i vert: excellent engine power, cabin luxury and comfort is a tad above the Jaguar. Computer navigation console, voice activated; years ahead of Jaguar technology IMHO. Ride is a bit heavier, more toward grand tour than true performance car. Better sound system and overall luxury than the jag. Keep in mind, that I am in the late 50's age target demographics; and now days, speed and tire screeching performance, are not as high of a priority to me, as comfort and a navigation system with voice comand is. You will not be disapointed with either one of this vehicles; it is a matter of what will work best for you and your family/situation now. Last edited by Soldes; 12-04-2012 at 01:41 PM. |
