Is there something fundamentally different about BMW, where I couldn't get it aligned at say a Sears?

Anyone can do an alignment, nothing magical about BMW. Finding a good alignment person is a whole other issue.

The Good Year shop by me does 4 wheel alignment on a Hunter machine, as does the Scott tire. As long as they know what they're doing, it shouldn't be a problem.
